Little Sisters celebrate Our Lady of Pontmain

Jan

Although not well known in the United States, Little Sisters throughout the country and around the world celebrated Our Lady of Pontmain in a big way Sunday, January 17, the 150th anniversary of our Lady’s visit to a small village on the border between Normandy and Brittany, France. Our Lady promised the faithful of this tiny hamlet of 500 that God did, indeed, hear their prayers for peace, even though they ad begun to feel that their prayers for an end to the Franco-Prussian War were going unheard.

In fact, the very night of the apparition, the Prussian army aborted its advance on Brittany, and 11 days later the armistice was signed, ending the war. The Basilica of Monmartre in Paris, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was built in gratitude for the war’s end.

To read more about the apparition of Our lady of Pontmain read two articles that appeared in Serenity, our quarterly magazine.
