A taste of the Indy-500

After several days in Chicago, our travelers left for Indianapolis by car on April 29, arriving to an Indy-500 style welcome led by the home’s administrator in his red Corvette. He was accompanied by Alberta Rattermann, the home’s eldest Resident at 98 yrs old in the front seat. She wore a tiara and was thrilled to be “Queen” for the day. They were greeted in Spanish and French by a Resident from Argentina and an employee from Haiti.

The next day Archbishop Charles C. Thompson came for Mass, joined by ten concelebrants. In the afternoon students from Guerin High School, who visit the Residents each week, performed a play on the lives of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and Saint Jeanne Jugan. The two saints were contemporaries, both natives of Brittany, who lived through hardships in founding their respective congregations.
