After their stay in Alabama, Mother General and her traveling companions headed north to the next house on their itinerary, Chicago. When they arrived Mother Maria shared that Chicago is the only house in the Congregation that she has visited three times. The Sisters at St. Mary’s knew they were special! They were happy to spend Sunday, April 26, the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, in this lively house where they were greeted in English, Spanish and French. Seven priests concelebrated Sunday’s Mass and a group of Spanish students who volunteer at the home were on hand to sing in their native language.

A presentation in the afternoon explained the significance of the Chicago city flag, which has traditionally included four stars representing four significant moments in Chicago’s history. When Pope Leo arrived with a fifth star in hand, the flag underwent a revision!

Mother General’s visit included time to meet all the Residents, AJJ and staff, as well as a number of Little Sisters’ families.
